2026 review
Aaron Civale swung between the rotation and the pen, missing bats modestly while the home runs piled up: a 4.20 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 111.1 IP over 34 games (15 GS) for ATH and CHC, an 18.5 K% and a 7.1 BB% over 493 BF. He signed as a free agent with ATH on Feb 10, went on the 15-day IL May 26 for right shoulder tendinitis, took a rehab assignment Jun 11, was activated Jun 17, and was designated for assignment by ATH on Jul 15 before he moved to CHC, missing 22 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1249, he finished 1057th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 192 spots above his ADP rank, and 523rd of 575 relievers. Once he moved to the bullpen on Jul 10 things eased, a 2.54 ERA in 39.0 IP after a 5.10 ERA in 72.1 IP as a starter. Right-handers hit .260/.294/.423 over 223 PA, lefties .295/.370/.515 over 271 PA. His best month was Aug at a 0.98 ERA in 18.1 IP, worst Jun at an 8.25 ERA in 12.0 IP. By mid-Aug the TDK LABS card had him as a bulk-relief arm without a clear role, and by late Sep as bullpen depth with no leverage path or save chances.
