Adrian Houser missed bats rarely but let results run ahead of his contact quality: 26 games, 16 starts, a 4.02 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 109.2 IP, a 16.0 K% and a 7.2 BB% over 470 BF. A right forearm strain put him on the 15-day IL Aug 26, and he was transferred to the 60-day IL Sep 1, missing 32 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 902, he finished 954th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 52 spots below his ADP rank, 618th of 811 pitchers and 140th of 236 starters. His 7.4 SwStr% over 1732 pitches was the 27th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, yet his 4.02 ERA ran 0.93 below his 4.95 xERA over 470 BF. Right-handed batters hit just .222/.234/.318 over 186 PA against him, while left-handed batters hit .282/.367/.516 over 284 PA. His best month was Aug, a 0.50 ERA in 18.0 IP, against his worst in Apr, a 7.12 ERA in 30.1 IP. The TDK LABS card tracked the swings: in early May it flagged a shaky stretch after a short outing, by Aug 10 it had him working as a bullpen starter following better recent results, and by late Sep it had him on the 60-day IL for season-ending surgery.
