Agustín Ramírez was a DH who got on base more than he hit for average, and his year carried an odd detour into outside scrutiny of his defense behind the plate. He hit .235/.318/.354 with a 23.9 K% and a 10.2 BB% over 255 PA for MIA, adding 5 HR, 31 R and 24 RBI across 72 games and 59 starts. He was optioned May 4 and recalled Aug 4. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 83, he finished 881st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 798 spots below, and 22nd of 46 DH. His .300 wOBA ran 15 points above his .285 xwOBA over 255 PA. The TDK LABS card followed an odd arc for a DH: in early May it was relaying outside criticism of his catching defense, by early Aug it had him back as depth at catcher, by late Aug a part-time backstop with a platoon edge against left-handers, and by late Sep a spot catcher elevated by a recent hot stretch.
