2026 review

Alex McFarlane was a power arm out of the pen who turned into a real weapon late: a 2.84 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 19.0 IP over 19 games for PHI, with a 25.3 K% and an 8.9 BB% over 79 BF, 4 W, 5 HLD and 1 BS. He shuttled between the majors and the minors on Mar 8, Apr 24, Apr 25, Jul 20 and Jul 25 before a recall Aug 11 that stuck, throwing 1.0 IP in Jul, 9.1 IP in Aug and 8.2 IP in Sep. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 384th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 97th of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card traced the climb: recalled after a standout run as a closer in the minors in late Jul, an occasional leverage arm with a recent hold by early Sep, a middle reliever in the club's bullpen by mid-Sep, and by late Sep it had him pitching well in his recent outings before a blown save broke the streak.
