A left hamate fracture put him on the 10-day IL Mar 28 (retroactive to Mar 27); he took a rehab assignment Apr 29 and was activated May 4, then went back on the 10-day IL Sep 25 (retroactive to Sep 22) with an illness, part of 43 regular-season days lost in 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 276, he finished 379th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 103 spots below his ADP rank, and 35th of 65 first basemen. His .368 wOBA ran 39 points above his .329 xwOBA over 331 PA. He hit much better against left-handed pitchers, .336/.421/.517 over 133 PA, than against right-handers, .282/.365/.391 over 200 PA. The TDK LABS card followed him from the May 8 activation back into the lineup, to productive with power intact by early Aug, to hot against lefties in limited at-bats by early Sep, with returning teammates narrowing his playing time.
