2026 review

Ángel Chivilli worked as a middle reliever for NYY, posting a 3.78 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 16.2 IP across 15 games, with a 21.9 K% and a 9.6 BB% over 73 BF, adding 2 HLD and no saves. He was traded to NYY on Jan 28, then optioned Mar 19 and recalled Apr 15 before right shoulder discomfort sent him to the 15-day IL on Apr 25, retroactive to Apr 23; he took a rehab assignment Jun 10 and was activated Jun 11, missing 49 regular-season days in that stint, then was optioned the same day, recalled Jul 5 and optioned again Aug 4. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 567th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 305th of 811 pitchers and 220th of 575 relievers. His workload ran 2 games and 2.1 IP in Apr, rose to 11 games and 12.2 IP in Jul, and fell to 1.2 IP in Aug. The TDK LABS card flagged structural concern around the shoulder in early May, and by Jul it had him pegged as a depth middle reliever with no save or hold lane in a crowded pen.
