2026 review

Anthony Kay was a low-strikeout starter who leaned on limiting hard contact rather than missing bats: a 4.44 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 158.0 IP over 33 games and 31 starts for CHW, with an 18.2 K% and a 7.9 BB% over 710 BF, going 10-9. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1073, he finished 1116th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 43 spots below, and 179th of 236 starters. He split hard against the platoon, opposing lefties hitting just .182/.246/.256 over 195 PA against him while righties hit .293/.381/.488 over 517 PA, and his ERA ran 0.61 below his 5.05 xERA over 710 BF. His best month was May at a 1.95 ERA in 32.1 IP and his worst was Apr at a 6.64 ERA in 20.1 IP. The TDK LABS card turned on him quickly: by early May it still liked him as a matchup-driven streamer, by mid Jun it had flipped to calling him a fade outright, and later that month it was warning that an easier stretch had been real but that a tougher slate lay ahead with his underlying numbers pointing the other way, a read it was still sounding in late Sep over his strikeout volume running below average and his ERA sitting ahead of those underlying metrics.
