2026 review
Anthony Volpe played through a shoulder recovery and still gave the Yankees a regular at short for stretches, hitting .245/.321/.336 with a 22.8 K% and a 10.2 BB% over 246 PA across 70 games, adding 12 SB. He was placed on the 10-day IL Mar 25 for left shoulder surgery recovery, worked through rehab assignments in Apr, and was optioned May 4 before getting recalled May 12; he was optioned again Aug 4 and recalled Sep 10. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 359, he finished 773rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 414 spots below, and 34th of 61 shortstops. His playing time swung by month, from 84 PA in Jun down to just 3 PA in a single Aug game before rebuilding to 52 PA over 14 games in Sep. The TDK LABS card followed the swings: back in as the everyday shortstop by May 15, limited to a platoon role against lefties by Jul 23, then elevated after a hot stretch with strong contact rates and OBP by Sep 20, though by Sep 27 it had him getting first opportunities at third base with production across positions reading below league average.
