2026 review

Austin Hays was an outfielder whose season kept getting cut short by injury: across 38 games and 24 starts split between CHW and SDP he hit .280/.305/.400 with a 25.7 K% and a 3.8 BB% over 105 PA (100 AB), adding 3 HR and 15 RBI. He signed with CHW on Feb 4, then a right hamstring strain sent him to the 10-day IL Apr 7; he took a rehab assignment and was activated Apr 27, only for a left calf strain to put him back on the IL May 4, retroactive to May 2. He missed 115 regular-season days across the stints, took rehab assignments in May and Jul, and CHW activated him from the 60-day IL Aug 5 before designating him for assignment and releasing him days later; SDP signed him Aug 9. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 362, he finished 1108th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 746 spots below, and 50th of 93 left fielders. In early May the TDK LABS card noted another lower-body injury as a recurring issue, and by late Jun it still had him on the 60-day list. By mid Sep it read him as a part-time platoon bat favoring left-handers, and by late Sep it described a hot recent sample ahead of a right-hander after a cooling stretch.
