2026 review

Braden Shewmake was a fringe third baseman who moved through the Yankees, Astros and Brewers organizations in one year, hitting .259/.270/.424 with a 17.6 K% and a 2.2 BB% over 91 PA across 34 games, with 3 HR and 10 RBI. He was designated for assignment by the Yankees in Feb, traded to Houston Apr 19, then placed on the 10-day IL May 31 with a right adductor strain that cost him 36 regular-season days before a rehab assignment and his Jul 6 activation, only to be designated for assignment by Houston Jul 10 and traded to Milwaukee Jul 12, where he was designated for assignment again Jul 24, outrighted, and signed a minor league deal. The TDK LABS card caught an early spark in early May, crediting a 2-for-3 night with a solo HR and floating a runway at 3B, but by late Jun it had him on the 10-day IL with the adductor strain, and by late Jul it was noting the designation and reclaim. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 1163rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 416th of 660 hitters, and 42nd of 67 third basemen.
