2026 review
Brandon Woodruff was a strike-thrower whose season kept getting cut short by his shoulder: over 9 games and 9 GS he threw 45.1 IP with a 2.98 ERA and 0.84 WHIP, a 27.0 K% and a 5.7 BB% over 174 BF, with 2 W and 2 L. He went on the 15-day IL May 1 for right shoulder inflammation, returned Jun 22 after rehab assignments, then went back on the IL Jul 5 and was transferred to the 60-day IL Jul 12, missing 136 regular-season days in 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 122, he finished 298th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 176 spots below, and 48th of 236 starting pitchers. His 5.7 BB% over 174 BF was the 51st lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. He was sharper after his longest IL stint than before it, a 1.76 ERA in 15.1 IP after activation against a 3.60 ERA in 30.0 IP before. His best month was Jun at 0.00 ERA in 11.2 IP against a 3.60 ERA in 25.0 IP in Apr. The TDK LABS card had him working through a rehab arc in mid May, then noted a mechanical shift after his return in late Jun, and by Aug it had him undergoing shoulder surgery with the season over.
