Brandon Young was a strikeout starter who could get hit hard and still post a clean ERA: he went 9-6 with a 3.56 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 156.2 IP over 28 starts for BAL, striking out 133 with a 19.9 K% and walking 61 with a 9.1 BB% over 669 BF. He was optioned Mar 7, recalled Apr 6, optioned again Apr 7, then recalled Apr 23 and never left, working from 14.2 IP in Apr up through 26.1 IP in Sep. Taken in 11 of 674 drafts at ADP rank 639, he finished 696th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 102nd of 236 starting pitchers. His 3.56 ERA ran 0.76 below his 4.32 xERA over 669 BF. The TDK LABS card called him a non-viable rotation depth piece after a 10-run torching in early May, by late Jun questioned whether the ERA matched the rest of his numbers, by Sep 20 noted a fall-off in the second half after a strong start to the year, then by Sep 26 had him stringing together a run of strong starts with solid strikeout rates.
