2026 review
Brayan Rocchio was a glove-and-legs shortstop who put the ball in play more than he drove it: his 2.8 Barrel% over 458 BBE was the 25th lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA, and the season leaned on speed and defense to cover for that. He played 153 games with 151 starts, going .253/.313/.391 over 534 AB, with 25 2B, 2 3B, 15 HR, 66 R, 73 RBI, 20 SB and 7 CS, striking out at a 14.4 K% and walking at a 6.4 BB% over 592 PA. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 440, he finished 102nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 338 spots above, and 10th of 61 shortstops. His .311 wOBA ran 17 points above his .294 xwOBA over 592 PA. He hit .305 over 82 AB in Apr, his best month, and just .181 over 83 AB in Aug, his worst. The TDK LABS card tracked the swings: by May 8 it had him as a thin roster thread sliding back to shortstop with a spot opening at 2B; by Jun 15 the bat had gone quiet but the card leaned on the steals and a secure role at short to justify holding him; by Sep 27 it was pointing to a hot close to the season with the power showing up again and a return to shortstop after time away.
