Brenan Hanifee was a swingman who never got a real foothold in Detroit's bullpen, running a 5.06 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 21.1 IP with a 10.8 K% and a 7.5 BB% over 93 BF across 23 games, 2 of them starts. He shuttled between the majors and the minors all year, optioned and recalled repeatedly from Mar 25 through his final option on Aug 7. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 885th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 437th of 575 relief pitchers. The read on him barely moved all season: in early May the TDK LABS card had him as a depth recall with no fantasy lever attached, later in May it pegged him as part of a bullpen-game piggyback cadence rather than any hold path, and by August, after he was brought back up to fill the void left by a trade out of Detroit's pen, the card still had him in a deep-relief role with no path to leverage innings.
