2026 review

Brett Bateman hit .329/.402/.424 with a 19.3 K% and 9.9 BB% over 181 PA for TOR, adding 52 H including 7 2B, 1 3B and 2 HR, 28 R, 11 RBI and 3 SB across 41 games and 40 starts. TOR acquired him in a trade on Aug 2 and selected his contract Aug 7. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 875th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 312th of 660 hitters and 38th of 70 center fielders. His .368 wOBA ran 56 points above his .312 xwOBA over 181 PA. The TDK LABS card had him making his debut after the trade in early Aug, then within days flagged a multi-hit game showcasing strong plate discipline even as the contact quality stayed quiet, and by late Sep it was noting him hitting near the top of the order with the speed and contact tools standing out.
