Brett Baty hit for average that never quite showed up, though the plate discipline held: he went .236/.309/.371 with a 26.4 K% and a 9.3 BB% over 473 PA for NYM, adding 22 2B, 11 HR, 53 R and 56 RBI across 143 games. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 268, he finished 289th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 21 spots below, and 23rd of 67 third basemen. His .302 wOBA ran 19 points below his .321 xwOBA over 473 PA, and his best month was May at .265 over 83 AB against a rough .147 over 75 AB in Jun. The TDK LABS card followed the swings: by mid May it was pointing to flickering power held back by a lefty platoon issue, by early Aug it read him as cold but due for a rebound on the underlying contact, and by late Sep it had him heating up as a righthanded-matchup bat with a pinch-hit grand slam and a multi-hit stretch.
