Brycen Mautz was a raw arm who missed bats but couldn't find the zone: 19 SO against 11 BB gave him a 25.3 K% and a 14.7 BB% over 75 BF, with a 5.87 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in 15.1 IP across 8 games for STL. He bounced around the roster all year, optioned Mar 9, recalled May 24, optioned back May 26 after just 1 game, then recalled again Aug 29, with usage of 3.0 IP in both May and Aug and 9.1 IP over 6 games in Sep. Undrafted in most NFBC drafts, taken in just 1 of 674, he finished 936th of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 605th of 811 pitchers, and 469th of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card tracked the swings: late May had him optioned back down with no near-term fantasy path after his debut, but by Sep it described an elite fastball paired with crude command, and by late Sep a fresh arm getting a brief look in a fluid bullpen.
