Carson Kelly was a part-time catcher for CHC who hit much better against left-handers than right-handers: 120 games with 99 starts, a .258 average, a .336 OBP, a .376 slug and a 16.5 K% and a 9.4 BB% over 425 PA, with 10 HR and 58 RBI. Against left-handed pitchers he hit .298/.375/.496 over 136 PA, against right-handers .239/.318/.320 over 289 PA. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 302, he finished 262nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 40 spots above, and 9th of 103 catchers. By early Aug the TDK LABS card was pointing to the platoon edge against lefties and the underlying contact quality behind his numbers, and by mid-Aug it described him as a part-time catcher whose underlying value ran ahead of a thin recent line while the everyday role stayed in place; by late Sep it had him sharing time in a platoon arrangement.
