COL optioned him Mar 8 and designated him for assignment May 21 before trading him to WSN on May 25; WSN then recalled him Jun 24, optioned him Jun 25, recalled him again Jun 29, and optioned him Aug 9. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 1008th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, and 157th of 236 starting pitchers. The TDK LABS card had him recalled into long relief with no save path by early Jul, and by early Aug it still described him as a middle reliever handling multi-inning bulk work in an unsettled bullpen with little shot at high-leverage innings.
