2026 review

Carson Whisenhunt spent his rookie season working out of the rotation for SFG, and hard contact was a persistent problem: his 42.2 Hard% over 116 BBE was the 15th highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. Across 8 games and 8 starts he posted a 6.49 ERA and 1.79 WHIP in 34.2 IP, with a 15.9 K% and a 12.8 BB% over 164 BF, striking out 26 and walking 21 with 5 HR allowed. He was optioned Mar 18 and shuttled between the majors and the minors on Jun 17, Jun 18, Jul 9, Jul 10 and Jul 26, then placed on the 15-day IL Aug 25 with a left elbow sprain and transferred to the 60-day IL Aug 26, missing 33 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1242, he finished 1125th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 181st of 236 starting pitchers. His 6.49 ERA ran 0.50 above his 5.99 xERA over 164 BF. The TDK LABS card had him recalled to fill a rotation vacancy in late Jul, then by mid-Aug it was noting steadier command from the rookie left-hander, and by late Sep had him on the 60-day IL with elbow surgery scheduled.
