2026 review

Casey Schmitt was a free swinger who did damage when he made contact but almost never worked a walk: he hit .271/.301/.483 with a 19.8 K% and a 2.7 BB% over 409 PA for SFG, adding 21 HR and 55 RBI over 98 games. His 2.7 BB% over 409 PA was the 1st lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. His last game came Jul 27, and the next day he went on the 10-day IL with a left knee meniscus tear before a transfer to the 60-day IL on Aug 29 left him out through Sep 27, missing 61 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1038, he finished 165th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 873 spots above, and 17th of 93 left fielders. His .336 wOBA ran 19 points below his .355 xwOBA over 409 PA, and his best month was Apr at .325 over 77 AB against .229 over 83 AB in Jul. The TDK LABS card had him leading the Giants in wRC+ and batting average in early May, then by late Sep it was describing a mini-breakout while he sat on the 60-day IL.
