Chase Petty bounced between CIN and its alternate roster all year, a hard thrower who could not miss bats: a 4.83 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 31.2 IP over 16 games (3 GS), with a 10.8 K% and a 6.5 BB% over 139 BF, 1 W, 2 L, 1 SV and 1 BS. He was optioned Mar 9, then shuttled between the majors and the minors on May 4, May 6, May 23, May 24, Jun 10, Jul 4, Jul 12, Jul 30, Aug 3 and Aug 8. Undrafted in most NFBC drafts at ADP rank 1007, he finished 788th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, and 373rd of 575 relievers. His 10.8 K% over 139 BF was the 2nd lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. His 4.83 ERA ran 0.90 below his 5.73 xERA over that same 139 BF. The TDK LABS card had him down with a blister in mid-May, then picked him back up as a top prospect notching his first career save by late Jun, and by early Aug was flagging him as a spot starter with thin big-league resume and a bloated ERA limiting his value.
