2026 review
Chris Bassitt turned in a rough season for BAL after signing Feb 13: a 4.59 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 102.0 IP, a 16.1 K% and an 8.3 BB% over 460 BF, going 9-5 across 18 starts in 20 games. Low back discomfort put him on the 15-day IL Jun 8, retroactive to Jun 5, then the 60-day IL Jul 17, and after a rehab assignment Jul 28 he was activated Aug 14, missing 70 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 357 and taken in 538 of 674 drafts, he finished 1151st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 794 spots below his ADP rank, 740th of 811 pitchers, and 190th of 236 starting pitchers. His 4.59 ERA ran 0.33 below his 4.92 xERA over 460 BF. He handled right-handed batters better, .267/.339/.349 over 192 PA, against .310/.378/.473 over 270 PA for left-handed batters. His sinker crept up from 91.9 mph in Mar-Jun to 92.9 mph in Jul-Sep, and his ERA moved too, 5.27 in 56.1 IP before the injured list stint against 3.74 in 45.2 IP after. The TDK LABS card flagged a season-best outing against Houston by May 8, described him as sidelined with back trouble by Aug 8, and by late Sep was calling him a short-sample arm pitching well recently.
