2026 review

Cionel Pérez was a journeyman reliever who moved through organizations and an injury on his way to a middling year. He posted a 4.76 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 45.1 IP across 40 games for WSN and NYM, with a 22.2 K% and a 9.6 BB% over 198 BF, adding 4 W, 3 L and 6 HLD. He signed a minor league contract with WSN Feb 16, had his contract selected Mar 23, was outrighted May 2, then signed with NYM May 9 and had that contract selected May 30. A left forearm strain put him on the 15-day IL Jul 31 retroactive to Jul 30, and after rehab assignments in Sep he was activated Sep 19, missing 51 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 822, a rare pick taken in just 15 of 674 drafts, he finished 818th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 393rd of 575 relief pitchers. His ERA ran 0.43 below his 5.19 xERA over 198 BF, and his best month was Jun at 3.68 ERA in 14.2 IP against a worst month of Apr at 7.50 ERA in 12.0 IP. By late Sep the TDK LABS card had him back from the forearm injury but limited to hold situations.
