2026 review

Cody Freeman was a bit-part infielder who kept getting knocked off the field: he hit .247/.319/.318 with a 15.5 K% and an 8.2 BB% over 97 PA across 36 games for TEX, adding 1 HR, 1 2B, 1 3B and 8 R. A lumbar stress reaction put him on the 10-day IL back on Mar 22, and after rehab assignments he was activated May 28, optioned the same day, and shuttled between the majors and the minors through Jun 13 before a herniated disc sent him back to the 10-day IL Jun 22; across those stints he missed 107 regular-season days, and he was optioned again Aug 4 after his second activation before a recall Aug 14. Drafted at a rare NFBC ADP rank 944, he finished 1249th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 49th of 67 third basemen. The TDK LABS card had him back in early Jun as a speculative flier filling in on a bereavement absence, called him the primary third baseman riding out a slump in mid-Sep, had him benched shortly after, and by late Sep had him as a fringe piece losing playing time as the regular lineup got healthy.
