Colson Montgomery was a rookie shortstop who could clear the fence but had a hard time finding the strike zone: he hit .197/.282/.403 over 638 PA for CHW, with 31 HR, 87 RBI and 71 R against 227 SO. His 35.6 K% and 8.5 BB% over 638 PA left him with the 2nd highest strikeout rate of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 226, he finished 149th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 77 spots above, and 117th of 660 hitters, 16th of 61 shortstops. His best month was Apr at .237 over 93 AB and his worst was Sep at .099 over 81 AB. The TDK LABS card tracked the swings: by early May it noted the power momentum but called the contact profile modest, by mid-Jul it was describing a cold streak alongside emerging power, and by late Sep it had him as a rookie power breakout working through a cold streak after a big home-run stretch, in part-time duty as the season wound down.
