2026 review
Connor Thomas worked almost entirely as a middle reliever with limited strikeout stuff, his 15.3 K% over 118 BF the 37th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, and results that lagged even that: a 7.01 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 25.2 IP across 19 games, with 4 HLD, 2 W and 1 L. His contract was selected Jul 7 (ATL), then he was optioned and recalled through Jul 29, claimed off waivers by ATH Jul 30, optioned and designated for assignment by Aug 1, claimed off waivers by KCR Aug 4, optioned, and recalled Aug 17. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 1009th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 503rd of 575 relievers. His 7.01 ERA ran 2.50 above his 4.51 xERA over 118 BF. The TDK LABS card tracked the swings: in early Jul it read his numbers as inflated by level with no save or hold path, by early Aug it had him as a poor debut with no near-term case after the option, by late Aug it had him filling a bullpen vacancy, and by late Sep it still had him in middle relief with no leverage path in a fluid Royals bullpen.
