2026 review
Cristian Javier spent much of the year working around a shoulder injury, posting a 5.14 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 63.0 IP over 17 games and 12 GS for HOU, with a 21.4 K% and a 10.1 BB% over 276 BF, striking out 59 against 28 BB and allowing 10 HR. He was placed on the 15-day IL Apr 9 with a grade 2 right shoulder strain, transferred to the 60-day IL Apr 20, took a rehab assignment Jun 3 and Jun 9, and was activated Jul 3 after missing 85 days, then was placed back on the 15-day IL Sep 23, missing 4 days through Sep 27. Drafted in most drafts at NFBC ADP rank 380, he finished 1103rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 723 spots below his ADP rank, and 177th of 236 SP. His 5.14 ERA ran 0.38 above his 4.76 xERA over 276 BF, and his best month was Sep at a 1.96 ERA in 18.1 IP against a 5.79 ERA in 23.1 IP in Aug. The TDK LABS card had him back in early Jul but limited to middle relief with no leverage path, then by mid-Sep noted a commanding stretch of whiff and strikeout-to-walk numbers despite the lagging ERA, and by late Sep had him on the 15-day IL again.
