Darell Hernaiz was a contact-over-power shortstop who bounced up and down with ATH all year: over 56 games and 42 starts he posted a .234 AVG and a .277 SLG in 137 AB, and a .316 OBP, a 19.7 K%, and a 10.2 BB% over 157 PA, adding 1 HR, 9 RBI and 3 SB. He was optioned Jun 8, recalled Jun 29, optioned again Jul 4, recalled Aug 16, and optioned once more Sep 12. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1276 as an occasional pick taken in 284 of 674 drafts, he finished 1199th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 443rd of 660 hitters and 49th of 61 shortstops. His .275 wOBA ran 13 points above his .262 xwOBA over 157 PA. His playing time swung by month, from 79 PA in May down to 10 PA in Jun and just 2 PA in Sep. The TDK LABS card had him answering an early-May opportunity with a productive stretch, then turned on him late: benched after a poor stretch by early Sep, and by mid Sep it described him as a bench option without a steady role in sight.
