David Fry was a part-time bat this year whose power outran his batting average. Over 91 games and 52 starts he went 37-for-184, a .201 AVG and a .364 SLG in 184 AB with a .313 OBP and a 27.6 K% and a 13.1 BB% over 214 PA, adding 8 HR, 23 R and 20 RBI. He was optioned Aug 3 and recalled Aug 19. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1288, taken in 288 of 674 drafts as an occasional pick, he finished 1079th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 371st of 660 hitters and 46th of 93 left fielders. His .304 wOBA ran 33 points above his .271 xwOBA over 214 PA. The TDK LABS card tracked the shift in his role: in early May it had him riding strong contact quality and a hot week, by Jul it had shifted him from catcher to outfield utility, by early Sep it had him down to brief, occasional call-up appearances, and by late Sep it had him limited to part-time work at first base and against left-handed pitching.
