David Hamilton was a speed-first infielder whose contact quality lagged behind it: his 27.7 HardHit% over 267 BBE was the 17th lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA, and the season line showed it, .245/.314/.336 with a 22.2 K% and an 8.3 BB% over 387 PA for MIL, with 30 SB in 121 games. A strained left hamstring put him on the 10-day IL on Jul 7, he took a rehab assignment Jul 21, and he was activated Jul 24 after missing 17 regular-season days; he hit .240 over 204 AB before the stint and .252 over 135 AB after. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1160, he finished 279th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 22nd of 67 third basemen. His .293 wOBA ran 17 points above his .276 xwOBA over 387 PA. The TDK LABS card tracked a shifting role: in early May it had him sharing the hot corner in a strong-side matchup situation, by early Jul it flagged the hamstring tightness with an IL stint looming, and by late Sep it described his game as running almost entirely on his legs with little pop and strikeout trouble narrowing the role, before closing the season with expanded opportunity.
