David Morgan missed bats but missed the strike zone too: a 24.1 K% and a 13.6 BB% over 162 BF, the walk rate the 40th highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, and his 14.2 SwStr% over 598 pitches was the 48th highest of that same pool. He put up a 3.78 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 33.1 IP across 32 games for SDP, with 4 W, 3 HLD and 1 BS, while shuttling between the majors and the minors on Apr 30 and Jun 5. Left knee inflammation put him on the 15-day IL Jun 29, retroactive to Jun 28, and after rehab assignments and an option on Aug 12 he was recalled Aug 26, missing 61 regular-season days in that stint. He pitched better after it: a 2.38 ERA in 11.1 IP after activation against a 4.50 ERA in 22.0 IP before. Taken in 9 of 674 drafts at ADP rank 742, he finished 772nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 480th of 811 pitchers and 362nd of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card described him as buried in a middle-relief role away from save and hold chances back in early Jun, and was making the same point about his walk rate capping his value in late Sep.
