2026 review
Drake Baldwin was a power-hitting catcher who backed it up with hard contact: he hit .284/.358/.459 with a 21.5 K% and an 8.9 BB% over 615 PA for ATL, adding 21 2B and 25 HR across 138 games. A strained right oblique put him on the 10-day IL May 19, he took a rehab assignment Jun 13, and he was activated Jun 15, missing 27 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 81, he finished 44th of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 37 spots above, and 2nd of 103 catchers. His .358 wOBA ran 12 points below his .370 xwOBA over 615 PA, while his 50.6 HardHit% over 419 BBE was the 18th highest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. He hit right-handers better at .307/.384/.504 over 391 PA against .245/.312/.382 over 224 PA versus left-handers, and his average dipped some after the IL stint, .303 over 188 AB before it against .274 over 361 AB after he came back. The TDK LABS card caught a strong game with a home run in early May, then by early Jul described his early breakout as stalled in a deep slump with a high strikeout rate after the oblique return, before turning by late Sep to call him an elite-hitting catcher on a scorching stretch with rare power for the position.
