He posted a 3.63 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 39.2 IP over 43 games for DET, with 62 SO and 14 BB over 169 BF, 13 HLD and no saves. He was optioned Mar 6, recalled May 24, optioned again May 25, and recalled May 28 for good. Taken in just 2 of 674 drafts at ADP rank 611, he finished 455th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 207th of 811 pitchers, 139th of 575 relievers. His 3.63 ERA ran 1.45 above his 2.18 xERA over 169 BF, and his best month was Aug at a 1.46 ERA in 12.1 IP against a 5.06 ERA in 10.2 IP in Sep. The TDK LABS card tracked the gap between his role and his stuff: in early Jun it had him as a lefty matchup arm with no save lane, by mid-Jul bullpen depth despite a hold, and by late Sep it described sharp metrics through a rough ninth with the role capping the save path.
