A right oblique strain put him on the 10-day IL on May 13, retroactive to May 11, and after he took a rehab assignment he was activated Jun 28, missing 48 regular-season days. He hit .243 over 103 AB before the stint and .222 over 221 AB after, and his best month came in Aug at .264 over 72 AB against just .169 over 83 AB in Sep. The TDK LABS card tracked the same uneven road: in early May it read him as a strict platoon bat who sat against lefties, by early Jul it had him cold off the injured list and part-time against righties only, by early Sep it had him cold and sliding, and by late Sep it had him flashing late power with the everyday role still unsettled. Drafted at ADP rank 314, he finished 448th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 134 spots below, and 245th of 660 hitters and 30th of 93 left fielders.
