2026 review
Dylan Smith bounced around before he settled into the Giants' bullpen: optioned by DET on Mar 1, designated for assignment Mar 25, picked up and optioned by SFG on Mar 30, recalled May 10, optioned back May 11, and recalled again Jun 3, after which he stuck, posting a 3.86 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 39.2 IP over 42 games, with a 25.4 K% and a 12.4 BB% over 177 BF, 4 SV, 7 HLD and 5 BS. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 741st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 452nd of 811 pitchers, and 342nd of 575 relievers. His 40.7 Hard% over 108 BBE was the 28th highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. The TDK LABS card traced a real shift in his role: in early Jun it had him as an unproven arm with no defined job, by early Aug he was thrown into a committee for saves after another reliever lost the role, and by mid Aug he had settled in as the closer outright, with the card by late Sep describing him as a co-closer.
