2026 review

Elly De La Cruz was an elite power-speed shortstop this year, backed up by hard, loud contact: his 16.0 Barrel% and 53.7 HardHit% over 387 BBE were the 6th and 9th highest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. He hit .283/.365/.515 with a 27.5 K% and an 11.3 BB% over 636 PA across 143 games, going 30 HR, 30 SB, 99 R and 79 RBI. A right hamstring strain sent him to the 10-day IL on Jun 1, he took a rehab assignment Jun 19, and he was activated Jun 23 after missing 22 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 8, he finished 9th of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 1 spot below his ADP rank, and 2nd of 61 shortstops. He hit .280 over 232 AB before the IL stint and .284 over 327 AB after he came back, and against left-handed pitchers he hit .325/.394/.596 over 188 PA against .264/.352/.480 over 449 PA against right-handers. His best month was Sep at .348 over 89 AB against .241 over 112 AB in Aug. By late Aug the TDK LABS card had him entrenched in the leadoff spot through a slump with the ceiling still intact, and by late Sep it had him raking in the final stretch with the power-speed season locked in.
