2026 review

Emilio Pagán was a shutdown closer whose season got interrupted: he posted a 3.38 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 42.2 IP over 45 games, converting 25 SV against 3 BS, with a 25.9 K% and a 6.3 BB% over 174 BF. A left hamstring strain sent him to the 15-day IL on May 6, he took a rehab assignment Jun 25, and he was activated Jun 30 after missing 55 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 116, he finished 177th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 61 spots below, and 21st of 575 relief pitchers. He was sharper after the IL stint than before it, a 6.43 ERA in 14.0 IP before the stint and a 1.88 ERA in 28.2 IP after activation, and his best month was Aug at a 2.70 ERA in 10.0 IP against a 5.73 ERA in 11.0 IP in Apr. The TDK LABS card tracked him rising through the year: in early May it flagged his ERA as running ahead of the underlying numbers while the closer role and a heavy schedule kept the save chances coming, and by early Sep it had him piling up saves as the role held, with his workload described as light by mid-Sep and his control described as clean by late Sep.
