2026 review

Eric Haase was a backup catcher who flashed occasional pop but couldn't hold contact: he hit .162 with a .235 OBP and a .365 SLG, striking out at a 33.3 K% against a 7.1 BB% over 84 PA in 74 AB, with 4 HR in 29 games for SFG. He signed a minor league contract Jan 16, had his contract selected Apr 21, and was designated for assignment Jul 17 before being released Jul 23, then signed minor league contracts with CHW on Jul 28 and ATL on Sep 1. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 1263rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 70th of 103 catchers. The TDK LABS card had him in early May as a backup catcher drawing planned rest days and reserve starts while another catcher was sidelined; by early Jul it had him winning more playing time with that catcher out but the contact turning dreadful after a power drought, and by mid Jul it had the backup role closing once the other catcher returned.
