2026 review
Erik Miller struck out hitters and missed bats but walked more than he wanted to: he posted a 2.98 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 51.1 IP across 57 games (1 GS) for SFG and BOS, with 4 W, 5 SV, 14 HLD and a 32.6 K% and 15.0 BB% over 227 BF. A low back strain put him on the 15-day IL May 4 (retroactive to May 1), he took a rehab assignment May 10 and again May 13 before he was activated May 16, missing 15 regular-season days in 1 stint, and San Francisco traded him to Boston Aug 3. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 910, a rare pick, he finished 363rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 144th of 811 pitchers and 87th of 575 relief pitchers. His 32.6 K% and 15.0 BB% over 227 BF were the 19th highest and 17th highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, while his 23.7 Hard% over 114 BBE was the 13th lowest of 517. His ERA ticked down after the IL stint, 3.18 in 11.1 IP before it against 2.92 in 40.0 IP after. The TDK LABS card reported the Giants expected a quick activation once the back strain landed in early May, and once Boston acquired him in early Aug it described him arriving in strong recent form for high-leverage work there; by late Sep it had him working as a lefty setup option who picked up a save when the closer was unavailable.
