2026 review
Gabriel Arias struck out too much to hold down a steady job, a 40.3 K% and a 5.4 BB% over 149 PA, and he bounced around because of it. He hit .243/.282/.371 in 140 AB across 51 games and 38 starts for CLE, NYM and CHC, with 5 HR, 14 R and 14 RBI. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 29, took a rehab assignment Jun 4, and was activated Jun 14; after that he was designated for assignment by CLE on Aug 5, claimed off waivers by NYM on Aug 7, designated for assignment again on Aug 17, and claimed off waivers by CHC on Aug 19. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 931, he finished 1090th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 159 spots below, 378th of 660 hitters, and 39th of 67 third basemen. His .284 wOBA ran 12 points above his .272 xwOBA over 149 PA, and he started 19 of 21 games in Mar-Jun against 19 of 30 in Jul-Sep. By early Aug the TDK LABS card had the strikeout problem persisting after the move to New York, and by late Sep it read him as a cold-batted prospect pinch-hitter with no clear path to playing time, though it still noted the underlying contact line staying clean.
