2026 review
Gavin Williams was a strikeout-heavy starter for CLE who missed bats as well as almost anyone in the game. He made 32 starts in 32 games and went 14-8 with a 3.76 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 184.1 IP, with 248 SO and a 33.2 K% and 8.2 BB% over 746 BF. That K% was the 16th highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, and his 32.4 CSW% and 15.0 SwStr% over 2991 pitches were the 13th highest and 29th highest of that same group. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 144, he finished 139th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 5 spots above, and 16th of 236 starting pitchers. The stuff got louder as the year went on: his fastball averaged 96.8 mph Mar-Jun over 350 pitches and 98.3 mph Jul-Sep over 459 pitches, a change of +1.5 mph. The month-to-month ride was bumpy, a 2.35 ERA in 38.1 IP in Apr and a 6.04 ERA in 25.1 IP in Jun. By late Jun the TDK LABS card had him as a confirmed starter with a big strikeout profile, and by late Sep it was noting a long run of double-digit-strikeout starts.
