George Kirby was a high-volume starter who leaned more on his workload than his stuff this year: he went 9-11 with a 4.33 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 174.2 IP over 30 starts for SEA, striking out 148 against 47 walks for a 20.0 K% and a 6.3 BB% over 741 BF. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 63, he finished 1191st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 1128 spots below, and 196th of 236 starting pitchers. The TDK LABS card held its early line through a soft outing in early May, calling it no change to the read on him as an ace, but by mid Sep it noted a stretch of runs allowed across most of his recent starts with a low strikeout rate while still calling the role stable, and by late Sep it had shifted to describing him as a command pitcher going through a rough patch and then a high-volume innings eater with a below-average strikeout rate.
