2026 review

Germán Márquez was a rotation arm whose control lagged behind his stuff: his 23.3 CSW% over 920 pitches was the 26th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, though he posted a 5.26 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 53.0 IP over 13 games and 10 GS for SDP, with a 15.7 K% and a 10.2 BB% over 236 BF. He signed as a free agent Feb 16, then a forearm nerve inflammation sent him to the 15-day IL May 3 (retroactive to May 2) for 61 regular-season days before his Jul 2 activation; his ERA ran 5.76 in 29.2 IP before that stint and 4.63 in 23.1 IP after. SDP designated him for assignment Aug 5, released him Aug 8, and he signed a minor league contract with MIN Aug 13. Right-handed batters hit a better .245/.297/.457 over 101 PA, left-handed batters a worse .278/.375/.565 over 136 PA, and his 5.26 ERA ran 0.51 below his 5.77 xERA over 236 BF. By Jul 3 the TDK LABS card had him back in a mop-up role with control struggles after his recovery, and by early Aug it had that stretch ending in release. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1095, he finished 1016th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 161st of 236 starting pitchers.
