2026 review
Ian Happ struck out a lot but still turned in a productive year, hitting .218/.326/.412 with a 29.7 K% over 636 PA, adding 24 HR, 89 R and 68 RBI across 156 games, and that strikeout rate was the 24th highest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 176, he finished 135th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 41 spots above, and 13th of 93 left fielders. His .325 wOBA ran 12 points above his .313 xwOBA over 636 PA. The switch-hitter split hard by handedness: against right-handed pitchers he hit .240/.357/.457 over 493 PA, against left-handers just .143/.214/.263 over 146 PA. The TDK LABS card tracked the shape of his year: by May 8 it had him riding a 27-game on-base streak and called it elite with a favorable calendar ahead; by Aug 5 it had him in a cold stretch but pointed to his everyday role as the foundation staying solid; by Sep 16 it called him an everyday switch-hitter with elite splits against right-handers, saying the cold stretch sat on top of a strong underlying profile ahead of favorable matchups against righties; and by Sep 27 it had him returning to the lineup.
