Jacob WaguespackDET · RP

2026 review

Jacob Waguespack was a middle-innings arm for DET who threw strikes and kept the ball out of trouble more than his stuff alone would suggest. He went 2-2 with a 2.49 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in 47.0 IP across 35 games and 1 start, with 5 HLD and 1 BS, a 19.1 K% and a 9.8 BB% over 183 BF. He signed a minor league contract with MIL on Jan 29 and again on May 10, was traded from MIL to DET on Jun 10, and had his contract selected by DET on Jun 12. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 307th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 113th of 811 pitchers, and 64th of 575 relievers. His 2.49 ERA ran 0.61 below his 3.10 xERA over 183 BF. The TDK LABS card shifted its read as the innings piled up: in mid-Jun it saw him as just an innings-and-ratio arm with no save or hold path, by early Aug it read his ERA as running well below his underlying skill, and by Sep 5 it had him drawing leverage work with the role split between setup and middle relief after a blown save.
