2026 review
Jacob Webb was a swing-and-miss reliever who bounced through the closer role all year for CHC, finishing 6-5 with a 3.36 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 67.0 IP over 68 games, a 25.7 K% and an 8.8 BB% over 284 BF, 9 saves against 8 blown saves and 9 holds. His 15.9 SwStr% and 31.6 CSW% over 1139 pitches ranked 16th and 27th highest, respectively, of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. Left-handed batters managed only .213/.281/.297 over 171 PA against him, while right-handers hit .260/.327/.480 over 113 PA. Undrafted in most drafts (taken in 5 of 674), he finished 297th of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 59th of 575 relievers. His 3.36 ERA ran 0.99 below his 4.35 xERA over 284 BF, and his best month was Jul at 0.00 ERA in 11.1 IP against a 5.40 ERA in 11.2 IP in Jun. The card followed his standing in the ninth: by early May it flagged his first save of the season, by mid-Aug it had him locking games down as closer, by early Sep it had him back as Chicago's primary closer after a negative MRI following a comebacker despite a recent save drought, and by late Sep it had the job as a contested committee again.
