2026 review
Jake Burger was a power bat at first base who battled swing-and-miss all year: he hit .228/.302/.421 with a 26.9 K% and a 9.0 BB% over 620 PA for TEX, piling up 28 HR, 90 RBI and 71 R across 155 games. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 252, he finished 100th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 152 spots above, and 13th of 65 first basemen. He hit lefties much better than righties, .265/.335/.556 over 170 PA against left-handed pitchers and .215/.289/.370 over 450 PA against right-handers, and his year swung from a .170 in 100 AB Apr to a .290 in 93 AB May. In early May the TDK LABS card flagged a tough week of right-handed matchups where it said the contact-quality metrics would not hold the floor. In late Aug it noted a day-to-day contusion after getting hit by a pitch, with X-rays clearing him, and by mid Sep it had him as the Rangers' everyday first baseman. By late Sep the read had him cold at the plate but still leaning on the quality of his contact and his home park.
