James McCannARI · C
2026 review
James McCann was a backup catcher who missed a big chunk of the year but made his looks count: across 51 games (41 starts) for ARI he hit .282/.311/.455 with a 25.3 K% and a 3.6 BB% over 166 PA (156 AB), adding 6 2B, 7 HR, 17 R and 28 RBI. A strained right quad sent him to the 10-day IL on May 19, he took a rehab assignment Jul 2, and he was activated Jul 6, missing 48 regular-season days in that stint. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1266, he finished 883rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 35th of 103 catchers. His .332 wOBA ran 29 points above his .303 xwOBA over 166 PA. The TDK LABS card had him ticketed for regular playing time in early May, before turning to a part-time catcher running cold by late Aug with his stats outrunning his contact, and by late Sep had him as a backup catcher dealing with inconsistent playing time with recent power output ahead of his underlying metrics.
