2026 review
Janson Junk was a starter who worked without much swing-and-miss stuff: a 4.22 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 123.2 IP over 25 GS for MIA, with a 17.0 K% and a 6.3 BB% over 523 BF. His 6.6 SwStr% over 1983 pitches was the 13th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. His 23.7 CSW% over 1983 pitches was the 37th lowest of that same pool. Right shin bone inflammation put him on the 15-day IL May 28, and after a rehab assignment he was activated Jul 9, missing 42 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1232, he finished 952nd of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 280 spots above his ADP rank, and 616th of 811 pitchers, 139th of 236 starters. His ERA ran 4.80 in 60.0 IP before the IL stint and 3.68 in 63.2 IP after, with his best month a 2.59 ERA in 24.1 IP in Aug against a 7.00 ERA in 27.0 IP in May. By early May the TDK LABS card had him lined up for starts the next week off a stretch of better outings; by mid-Jun it flagged him as sidelined with a shin injury; and by late Sep it noted his recent starts turning strong, including one outing without a run allowed.
